Job Description: Security Systems Design Architect
We are seeking a highly skilled Electronic Security System Design Engineer/Architect to join our team. This role combines expertise in electronic security systems engineering, physical security systems, and computer-aided design (CAD) to create innovative and effective security solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design comprehensive electronic security systems, focusing on access control systems, surveillance and video management systems (VMS), and door security and technologies.
- Utilize CAD software to create detailed technical drawings and schematics
- Develop specifications for security hardware and software components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of security systems
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to inform design decisions
- Stay current with emerging security technologies and industry best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of experience in electronic and physical security systems design, with a focus on access control, video surveillance, and
- Experience with Genetec, Softwarehouse, CCure, Inovonics, Zenitel, and Lenel systems
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or Revit
- Strong knowledge of the design, specifications, and operation of electronic and physical security components, including card readers, biometric devices, and door controllers
- Understanding of magnetic locks, electric strikes, electrified locks, push bar locks (Panic bars), electric deadbolts, key fobs, and card reader systems
- Experience with electronic security management systems and integration protocols
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication abilities to interact with clients, executives, and team members
- Experience with Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCE)
- Strong/advance proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with large scale security project planning to include; assessments, design review, scheduling, basis of design (BOD), cost reasonableness,
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Certifications such as CISSP, CPTED, CPP, or PSP
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) software
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and network security
- Understanding of Forced Entry Ballistic Resistant (FEBR) Doors
Responsibilities:
- System Design:
- Conceptualize and design electronic security systems for various facility types to include government buildings
- Create detailed CAD drawings of security system layouts and wiring diagrams
- Develop technical specifications for security equipment and software
- Access Control Expertise:
- Design comprehensive access control solutions, including door hardware selection
- Develop drawings and designs according to industry standards for installation according to customer expectations
- Integrate various technologies such as smart cards, biometrics, FICAM, and mobile credentials
- Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes and life safety regulations
- Project Management:
- Coordinate with clients, architects, and contractors throughout the design process
- Provide technical guidance and support during system implementation
- Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks
- Innovation and Research:
- Stay informed about emerging security technologies and industry trends
- Propose innovative solutions to enhance system effectiveness and efficiency
- Contribute to the development of company design standards and best practices
- Support standards development specific to the client
- Collaborate with the RDT&E Lab to ensure compliance and compatibility with current systems and operations
- Client Consultation:
- Assess client security needs and translate requirements into technical designs
- Present design concepts and proposals to clients and stakeholders
- Provide expert advice on security system capabilities and limitations
