In the pursuit of our mission, we are hiring a Special Education Specialist. This individual will be responsible for the scheduling, coordination, implementation, of evaluations and individualized education program (IEP) team services. This includes collaboration with pathway supervisors, instructional and support staff, and parents(s)/guardian(s) of students with IEPs. In addition, this individual will act as a liaison to other district staff and provide resources/information regarding special education programs and services. The Special Education Specialist will ensure that established district procedures are followed in alignment with state and federal regulatory requirements. Additional responsibilities may include data analysis, responding to parents(s)/guardian(s) and other individuals supporting a student’s IEP.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with special education endorsement
- Previous successful Special Education teaching experience
- Knowledge of the Michigan state standards related to Special Education
- Commitment to Lansing School District’s mission and vision
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in special education or related field
- At least five years of previous special education teaching or related experience
$52,915 - $107,735 a year
FTE 1 (8hours a day and 5 days a week)
