Job Description

The Safety Coordinator Intern will support our Safety and Operations teams in maintaining and enhancing safety and compliance in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This internship provides hands-on experience in implementing safety programs, conducting audits, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives at our Kansas facility. The intern will work closely with the Safety Manager in Virginia and local leadership to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety Program Support: Assist in rolling out established safety programs under the guidance of the Safety Manager.
  • Training Assistance: Help schedule and coordinate monthly safety training sessions in alignment with company standards
  • Risk Assessment: Participate in risk assessments to identify potential safety hazards and recommend improvements.
  • Incident Response: Support incident reporting and investigations for injuries and near misses.
  • Audits and Compliance: Assist with employee and site safety audits to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute ideas and observations to enhance safety and operational efficiency.
  • Environmental Compliance: Support environmental compliance activities, including documentation and permitting tasks.
  • Administrative Support: Provide general support to the Plant Manager and Safety Team as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager and Safety Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Interest in safety and environmental compliance within a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver training sessions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Self-motivated with strong adaptability to changing priorities.
