Job Description

The Sr. Tax Analyst role involves a variety of tax-related responsibilities including the preparation of complex tax provisions for Statutory and US GAAP reporting and compliance as well as assist with indirect tax processes as necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares/assists in tax provision preparation for US GAAP and Statutory Reporting.
- Assists in evidencing controls and maintaining an effective control environment.
- Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments and tax sharing entries.
- Assists with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns.
- Assists with compiling documentation related to any tax audit requests.
- Prepare resolutions to any tax correspondence.
- Perform basic tax research and analysis.
- Crosstrain on the indirect tax tasks to provide assistance or backup as necessary
- Assists with other duties and special projects, as needed.
- Performs addition related duties.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Reports: None
General Description of Indirect Reports (2 and 3-downs): None
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance
- Master's Degree is preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience in tax accounting for an insurance company
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong Excel and other tax technology skills
- Knowledge of SAP and Oracle TRCS is a plus
- Intermediate knowledge of tax accounting under ASC 740 and Statutory accounting provisions
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding taxation of corporations.
- Ability to conceptualize and execute projects and initiatives through to completion.
- Ability to perform technical tax research using multiple resources.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Experience with tax operations and ability to drive process improvement.
- Strong analytical, organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to define practical problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and external advisors.
- Ability to successfully handle pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Travel is not required in this position.
