Job Description

Who we are

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale. Our team culture is fast, hands-on, and obsessed with closing the gap between design and deployment.

As drones transform the character of warfare, Neros is delivering the systems the West needs to compete on the modern battlefield and deter the adversaries of democracy. We’re hiring engineers, operators, and builders who want to move fast, take on extreme ownership, and get capability into the hands of warfighters in months, not years.

What you will be doing

Neros is hiring a team of full stack electrical engineers to build the electronics stack behind Archer. In just 2 years, Neros has built the highest rate drone production line in Amerca, building over 1000 Archer UAVs per month. Archer is a small UAV with a vertically integrated electronics stack to enable mass production and world class performance.

Neros electrical engineers build a wide array of electronics systems including our in-house suite of custom anti-jam radios, our in-house flight computer, and in house BLDC motor driver. Neros systems are always designed for high volume and low cost. Most Neros systems are based off of small low-cost bare metal microprocessors (no FPGAs). Most Neros systems do not require advanced power electronics, and heavily bias towards consumer digital systems. Firmware is a key part of every Neros electrical system, so EEs work very closely with FW engineers.

Neros EEs own design from start to finish and enjoy setting requirements, drawing block diagrams, running simulations, capturing schematics, doing PCB layout, building PCBAs, and conducting bring up. Every Neros design gets manufactured at high volume, so a quality production handoff is key. Neros EEs are “full stack” and love owning projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop analog and digital circuits to build useful products.
  • Create and manage schematic diagrams and PCB layouts using Altium Designer
  • Select and source electronic components, considering performance, cost, and availability.
  • Generate all necessary design and manufacturing files, such as Gerbers, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
  • Perform board bring-up, including initial power-on, functional testing, and debugging of new hardware using Oscilloscopes, VNAs, VSAs, etc.
  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot prototype PCBs, which will require proficient soldering and rework skills.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure successful product integration.
  • Develop and execute design verification and validation test plans.

You should have the following:

  • Eligible for top secret creance and valid US work authorization
  • Proven experience in Electronics design (PCBs), with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer is required.
  • Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with board bring-up, testing, and debugging.
  • Soldering and rework skills, including experience with surface-mount components.
  • Familiarity with standard electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or applicable personal projects.

Nice to haves

  • UAV electronics design experience (PX4 / Ardupilot flight controller design or similar)
  • Experience with analog video systems (CVBS / PAL / NTSC )
  • Experience with digital video systems (e.g. MIPI-CSI)
  • Experience with camera design
  • Experience with BLDC motor drivers
  • Experience with RF communication, DSP,  or FPGAs
  • Experience with LoRa
  • Controls experience (e.g. PID controllers)
  • Experience with Antennas and RF routing

US Salary Range

$120,000 - $180,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are considered part of Neros' total compensation package.

We’re an equal opportunity employer. We welcome all applicants without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran or disability status.
