Job Description

Impact

As Director of Product- Fulfillment Systems at Shipt, you will report directly to the VP of Product- Gig Operations. You will play a critical role in executing our strategic vision to advance Shipt's Same-Day Delivery fulfillment capabilities through sophisticated algorithmic solutions and operational excellence. In this position, you'll lead a team of Product Managers focused on the backend systems and algorithms that power our fulfillment products, optimize our marketplace operations, and deliver exceptional experiences to our shoppers and customers.

What You'll Need to Be Successful

  • Lead a team of 4-6 Product Managers, providing mentorship, guidance, career development, and performance management

  • Drive innovation in core algorithms and backend systems that optimize Shipt's fulfillment operations

  • Own the development and continuous improvement of critical fulfillment algorithms, including dynamic systems for pricing, forecasting, availability, batching, and work allocation needed for marketplace management

  • Transform strategic vision into actionable roadmaps that improve fulfillment capabilities, operational metrics, and business economics

  • Implement and track key performance indicators focused on operational cost, efficiency, and fulfillment quality

  • Leverage fulfillment capabilities to unlock new customer experiences and business opportunities by challenging the status quo and rethinking fulfillment operations to drive breakthrough innovations

  • Champion a culture of strong bias for action, dedication to commitments, and relentless execution excellence

  • Partner deeply with Engineering, Data Science, Design, Operations, and various Business teams to help build high-performance systems that scale efficiently

  • Foster cross-functional collaboration across tech and business while balancing competing priorities and maintaining focus on strategic initiatives

Eligibility

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field like Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Operations Research, or Management, or equivalent industry experience; Master's or PhD preferred

  • 8+ years of Product management experience and 3+ years leading a team of PMs, ideally in the gig-economy marketplace space

  • Deep understanding of marketplace dynamics, operational economics, and real-time multi-variate machine learning and optimization systems used at scale for algorithmic management preferably in on-demand services, logistics, supply-side products, and/or operations in multi-sided marketplaces

  • Exceptional first principles thinking and hands-on analytical skills with the ability to dive deep into data and write SQL queries for data mining or analysis to deconstruct complex problems and translate insights into product improvements

  • Proven record of using experiments to drive product decisions and launching and scaling 0-to-1 products from concept to market, preferably in multi-sided marketplaces

  • Develop comprehensive product strategies backed by operational input, data-driven insights, performance metrics, and a keen intuition

  • Demonstrated track record of outstanding communication skills to explain technical concepts and present product strategies and performance metrics to influence a diverse cross-functional stakeholders and senior leaders in matrixed organizations

  • Experience with agile methodologies and product development lifecycle

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader. Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Other compensation includes eligibility for an annual bonus and the potential for restricted stock units based on role.

Pay range:

Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New York City:

$164,000-$328,000

All other locations:

$136,000-$273,000

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
