Job Description

ABOUT FILSON

In 1897 C.C. Filson began outfitting prospectors headed for the Gold Rush with tools and apparel strong enough for the toughest spots on earth. More than 100 years later, Filson remains committed to providing pioneers of all fields around the world with unfailing goods made from the highest quality materials available. Filson recognizes that it takes a world-class team to make a world-class product. As we build on the Filson legacy of American craftsmanship, we are looking for individuals who share our dedication to innovation, excellence, and superior customer service. We don’t work in silos but rely on open collaboration. It’s a jackknife mentality – the ability to accomplish more than what’s asked of you – that defines our culture of versatility and perseverance. Our outfitter mindset is deliberate and strategic. We are a small company, on purpose. We’re the ones doing the work, from product design and marketing, to cutting, sewing, and restoration. With more than 125 years under our belt, we still have a start-up mentality. Driven by an independent spirit and an uncompromising attitude that demands we lead with conviction.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Ecommerce Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation and performance of Filson.com. This is an operations-first role focused on site execution, merchandising, marketing coordination, and technical operations. • Serve as the primary point of accountability for ecommerce issues, bugs, and operational breakdowns
  • Monitor and resolve data or system issues across Shopify, OMS, inventory feeds, and analytics

Merchandising & Launch Management

  • Oversee ecommerce merchandising execution, prioritization, and quality
  • Ensure seasonal launches, capsules, and campaigns are fully merchandised and operationally sound
  • Partner with Merchandising, Planning, and Creative to align inventory, storytelling, and presentation
  • Own product lifecycle execution online, including launch readiness and end-of-life closeout execution

Performance Management

  • Monitor daily and weekly performance across traffic, conversion, revenue, AOV, and site KPIs
  • Identify issues or opportunities and take action quickly
  • Conduct post-campaign and post-launch retrospectives, documenting learnings and next steps
  • Maintain dashboards and reporting cadence for stakeholders

Vendor & Agency Management

  • Manage ecommerce-related agencies and vendors, including development and optimization partners
  • Set priorities, timelines, and expectations for external partners
  • Hold vendors accountable for delivery, quality, and budget

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Serve as the day-to-day ecommerce lead for Marketing, Creative, Technology, CX, Retail, and Planning teams
  • Coordinate dependencies and timelines to ensure ecommerce initiatives launch cleanly
  • Escalate decisions or trade-offs when needed, with clear recommendations

Team Leadership

  • Manage and develop direct reports, providing clear priorities, feedback, and accountability
  • Build repeatable processes to improve speed, clarity, and execution quality

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4–7+ years of ecommerce experience, preferably in DTC or retail
  • Strong hands-on experience with Shopify
  • Proven ability to run day-to-day ecommerce operations independently
  • Experience managing ecommerce launches, promotions, and site updates
  • Strong understanding of ecommerce KPIs and funnel performance
  • Experience working with CRO, analytics, and experimentation programs
  • Comfortable coordinating across Creative, Marketing, Tech, and Operations
  • Experience managing vendors or agencies
  • Strong organizational skills with a bias toward action and follow-through
