DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs, edits, and delivers relevant and accurate continuing education content in accordance with local, state, and national requirements, and/or as needed to support clinical performance. Collaborates with Clinical Improvement staff to identify performance deficits and implement clinical performance improvement strategies.
- Develops and delivers specific in-person training needs for clinical providers, such as annual simulations, using advanced technology human patient simulators and realistic settings or environments, as appropriate. Delivers real-time feedback to participants.
- Engages in professional development to build and retain skills for educating adult learners, EMS knowledge and the use of simulation tools. Serves as an institutional resource on using and troubleshooting simulation equipment. Instructs alternate education resources (e.g., FTOs, CTOs, Preceptors) on best practices for educating adult learners and deploying educational equipment.
- Maintains exceptional comprehension of Agency policies and protocols through working in a clinical provider capacity, observing crews, or independent study, and can provide feedback through their credential level.
- Contributes to staffing processes by evaluating candidates in the Assessment Center process by assessing medical knowledge, psychomotor skill sets, and affect, and providing educational content and development opportunities in orientation. Collaborates with Human Resources to develop and implement changes in staffing/onboarding processes to promote successful candidate selection.
- Documents, tracks and maintains records pertaining to employee credentialing. Liaises with NC OEMS regarding credentialing requirements for employees. Ensures Agency compliance with NC OEMS to maintain the Agency’s teaching institution designation.
- Participates in clinical research and improvement projects. Contributes to improvement agenda through identification and presentation of clinical performance deficits via the Clinical Performance Summit. Leads and/or participates in work teams for Agency improvement initiatives.
- Lends clinical expertise and perspective by evaluating the need for and providing feedback on new equipment, formulary and protocol proposals
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A.S. degree or completion of degree within three years of hire
- At least 3 years active EMS experience
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Required: ability to obtain Level 1 Instructor within three (3) years of hire.
- Requires completion of at least an associate's degree, which can be acquired within three years from hire/promotion.
- Current EMT or Paramedic Certification required.
- Ability to maintain a local credential required.
