Job Description

The Kendal Corporation (TKC) is seeking a Data Analytics Scientist to support our healthcare data-driven decision-making processes. This position involves maintaining the systems and tools necessary for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data to improve nursing center care, operational efficiency, industry benchmarking, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience and a strong passion around healthcare analytics, artificial intelligence/machine learning and data visualization tools.  This role requires critical and technical thinking, as well as the ability to solve complex problems and develop streamlined and repeatable workflows proactively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain data storage systems, like SQL/NoSQL databases, Data Lakes, Data Warehouse, including upgrades and data encryption
  • Gather and analyze healthcare data from multiple sources, including but not limited to: external sources for baselining, EHR systems, resident records, operational metrics, and financial reports.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security in compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain data dashboards and reports to track Affiliate and System Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify trends, patterns, and correlations in healthcare data to optimize care and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct predictive analytics to anticipate resident needs, staffing requirements, and financial performance.
  • Support clinical and administrative teams by providing actionable insights for process improvement.
  • Work closely with IT, clinical teams, finance, and executive leadership to translate data into strategic initiatives.
  • Present findings through clear reports, dashboards, and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Excel.
  • Assist in compliance reporting, quality improvement initiatives, and risk assessment efforts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree: A degree in Data Science, Healthcare Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree (preferred): A Master's in Data Science, Epidemiology, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Certifications: (preferred): Relevant certifications in data analytics, healthcare analytics, or project management (e.g., Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA), Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), or similar).
  • 5 plus years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience collaborating across functional teams, such as IT, finance, clinical, and leadership, to drive data initiatives.
  • Strong programming skills in languages like Python and R.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with NoSQL databases, Data Lakes, and Data Warehousing.
  • Expertise in machine learning algorithms, deep learning, and natural language processing (NLP).
  • Experience with AI tools and frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel) for creating dashboards and reports.
  • Demonstrated ability in predictive modeling and analyzing trends within healthcare data.
  • Data aggregation between multiple database platforms.
  • Experienced in integrating healthcare, wellness, and operational APIs to support data-driven decision-making in senior living environments.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, healthcare systems, healthcare datasets, EHRs, and clinical practices.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and data privacy concerns.
  • Ability to translate clinical questions into data-driven research projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams. 
  • Marketing analytics experience desired
  • Strong team work ethic with a customer-first , people first way of working

ABOUT KENDAL

Kendal began in the late 1960s, when a committee of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) sought “a better way in retirement” based on Quaker values. The first community opened in 1973.  The Kendal Corporation began in 1989 and is an aging services leader providing support and expertise to the Kendal System. Since then, new Affiliates have either been developed from the ground up or have chosen to become a Kendal Affiliate. Some have chosen to disaffiliate. The Kendal Corporation supports a System of ten individual Affiliate communities that is structured on what is called a federal model. Each Affiliate is locally owned and managed with its own independent board of directors, as each Affiliate is independently operated.
