Job Description Overview

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team at the Grand Prairie, TX plant. This internship provides hands-on experience supporting the design, testing, and maintenance of machinery used in heavy-duty automation solutions. The ideal candidate is eager to apply classroom knowledge and learn on the job to solve real world problems in a manufacturing and industrial environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and integration of electrical systems for industrial machinery, including motors, drives, sensors, and control panels
  • Support the development and review of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable routing plans
  • Participate in the setup, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems on machinery
  • Help ensure compliance with relevant safety and electrical standards (NEC, UL, etc.)
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, controls and manufacturing engineers to support system-level integration
  • Assist in updating and maintaining technical documentation and equipment records
  • Create and execute systematic test plans following the scientific method
  • Learn and apply ITW's Customer Back Innovation process

  • Attention to Detail: Careful and accurate work when dealing with wiring, diagrams, and safety-critical systems

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic, hands-on environment with evolving priorities

Job Requirements

  • Rising Senior pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution, 3.0 GPA or higher preferred
  • Strong self-learning ability, with guidance, per project requirements
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, Creo, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
