Base Pay Range: $21.65 - $44.58/hour

Position Summary

We are looking for a motivated Electrical Technician to join our Safety Products development group. We design, prototype, troubleshoot, and release new industrial safety products including cool, new technologies such as safety controllers, light curtains, E-stops, and much more. In this position you will be embedded with our highly experienced, collaborative group of electrical, mechanical, optical, software and manufacturing professionals, and assist them in many ways. No two days will be the same here! This position is perfect for someone who loves hands-on work and enjoys cool technology-and we are willing to train the right person. This is an onsite position located at our Plymouth, MN HQ campus.

This position reports to Technical Manager I

What You'll Be Doing

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working individually and collaboratively, staying on top of tasks, and making a meaningful impact across teams and projects. Below are some key responsibilities of the role.

Key Responsibilities

You will be involved in the three phases of product development, enhancements, and testing.

Product Development

  • Advanced soldering, repair, and troubleshooting of new and existing printed circuit board designs and assemblies
  • Work with electrical schematics and layouts
  • Design and troubleshoot test fixtures and test set-ups
  • Assemble prototypes

Product Testing

  • Product verification of hardware, software, optics, environmental, and electromagnetic compatibility
  • Use test equipment including meters, oscilloscopes, generators, data acquisition devices, and power supplies
  • Generate and assist with test documentation and results
  • Troubleshoot issues that may arise from the testing process
  • Operate temperature chambers for testing of products
  • Participate in-house agency testing process, with some off-site testing

Final Product Verification

  • Perform product CE and UL regulatory compliance testing
  • Generate and submit reports with detailed results
  • Submit results for reporting purposes

What You Bring to the Table

Required

  • Associate degree in Electronics or related field
  • Basic electronic test equipment knowledge
  • Advanced soldering skills at the PCB level, including fine pitch / small parts such as 0402s, parts with large thermal pads, etc.
  • Experience interpreting complex electronic schematics, drawings, charts, etc.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Excel, Word and Visio
  • Strong ability to multitask while working independently and collaborating on various projects

Preferred

  • Electromagnetic compatibility testing experience
  • Optical testing on product characteristics
  • Strong hands-on skills to take on responsibilities such as wiring simple prototype electrical boards and building simple fixtures
  • Understanding of complex electronic schematics (microprocessor-based systems), drawings, charts, etc.
  • Fundamental digital and analog design knowledge (regulators, op-amps, ADCs, etc.)
  • Able to document products, parts, and processes in an accurate manner
  • Experience with compliance and functional testing; also, electronics-related testing at the system-level, including debugging
  • Experience with ERP based systems, such as Oracle or other similar systems
  • Software programing experience including Visual Basic, Arduino, Python, C++
  • Familiarity with tools, machinery, and mechanical processes
