Job Description Summary

This is a position in the bargaining unit and is one of 2 electrical/instrumentation technicians on site. This position provides support for all electrical and instrumentation needs on site and is required to maintain on-going operations at the St. Louis Plant.

Primary Functions: Troubleshoot, repair, install, calibrate, and program the following: motor control and 480 volt motor circuitry, lighting systems, process control systems (both analog and digital), PLC's, VFD's, and analog field equipment. Read prints and schematics. Ability to spec out and purchase replacement parts. Demonstrate knowledge and adherence to electrical safety-related work practices per NFPA 70E, the National Electric Code, and OSHA Sub-part S.

Secondary Function: Perform all incidental duties of drilling holes, using necessary tools, mounting brackets, installing conduits, staging equipment, etc. Perform any other related instrumentation & electrical duties as required.

Job Description

1.Receives guidance & direction from group leader or maintenance department supervisor.

2.Checks, repairs, installs all existing or new plant instrumentation & electrical machinery, controls, or equipment such as, but not limited to control systems/programming wiring, timers, switches, control panels, fuse boxes, electrical valves and meters. Handle all electrical work concerning pumps, blowers, motors, conveyors, filters, baghouses, etc.

3.Must be able to read & interpret P&ID's, electrical wiring diagrams, process logic diagrams, control logic diagrams and be fluent in control system terminology and be able to apply it.

4.Must be able to quickly diagnose and solve process issues; especially those involving instrumentation & electrical issues.

5.Perform all secondary duties such as staging equipment, drilling holes, securing braces/supports, installing conduit, etc. Essentially all activities necessary to complete an assigned task.

6.Check & repair Plant electrical and instrumentation devices used throughout the Plant.

7.Prepare, operate & maintain all equipment necessary to fulfill work assignments.

8.Assist in training new Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians

9.Clean up work areas and utilize 5s principles to maintain a clean & orderly work environment.

10.Do all other related work as required.

Additional Job Description

1.Degree or certification from an accredited program in electrical, instrumentation & controls maintenance.

2.Minimum 5 years experience working in chemical processing and demonstrated use of electrical, instrumentation & controls skills.

3.Experienced with basic troubleshooting and programming of Allen Bradley equipment, Delta-V experience a plus

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1.Must meet minimum physical requirements which included, but not limited to medical clearance examination and respirator fit testing to wear a respirator for certain tasks, even able to wear a respirator during strenuous physical activity.

2.Ability to meet the requirements of the hearing conservation program.

3.Ability to operate a forklift and other equipment integral to the job tasks/functions.

4.Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb, and regularly kneel, squat, bend, and stoop, twist, and reach overhead with repetitive motions.

5.Ability to lift and/or carry up to 55 pounds and no more than 100 pounds without assistance.

6.Ability to work at heights above 50 feet, including on ladders and lifts.
