Job Description

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

This is a Community Service Employment role. About Emmanuel Music

Emmanuel Music is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, professional orchestra and chorus. Through its performing, teaching, mentoring, and scholarly activities, Emmanuel Music occupies a unique niche: a living laboratory for the music of J.S. Bach. Emmanuel Music finds new and creative ways for audiences and musicians to engage with the artistic, spiritual, and humanistic aspects of the music of J.S. Bach, the cornerstone of our musical output for our first fifty years.

The Artistic Assistant at Emmanuel Music supports our Artistic Team with the day-to-day artistic management of the organization. This position requires weekend hours, and the majority of work will take place on-site at 15 Newbury St. Boston, MA 02116.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing backstage support for rehearsals and performances, especially our weekly Cantata Series 

  • Assisting with the copying of distribution of scores/parts 

  • Preparing employee paperwork for artists 

  • Preparing paperwork for union payments 

  • Managing artist vaccination records, if still required 

  • Attending staff meetings 

  • Assisting with space reservations 

  • Assisting with concert production needs, such as scheduling instrument rentals and tuning, and supporting the livestream as needed

Qualifications:

  • High levels of organizational skills and attention to detail. If you love spreadsheets, color-coding, and making processes more efficient, this is for you. 

  • Experience with orchestra operations  

  • An ability to read music 

  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Zoom, and Slack preferred 

  • Reliability 

  • A positive attitude and willingness to work as a valuable member of a small team
