Employment Law Associate (3+ Years Experience)Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid – approx. 60% in-office)Firm: MintzSalary Range: $260,000 – $390,000
About the RoleMintz is seeking an Employment Law Associate with 3+ years of experience to join the firm’s expanding Employment, Labor & Benefits practice in San Diego. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of employment law matters while collaborating with a highly experienced and supportive team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in employment litigation, counseling, and compliance work, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities• Handle all aspects of employment litigation, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leaves of absence, wage and hour, non-compete, and breach of contract matters• Represent clients before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies• Provide day-to-day employment and HR-related counseling to employers• Draft employment policies and agreements, including employee handbooks, employment agreements, and separation agreements• Conduct internal workplace investigations• Deliver employment-related compliance training to clients• Collaborate closely with attorneys and staff across the firm to support client needs
Work EnvironmentCollaboration is a key part of the culture and are expected to work approximately 60% in-office, in accordance with the firm’s hybrid work guidelines.
Qualifications• JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school• Admitted to practice, or eligible for admission, in California• Minimum of three years of employment law experience• Experience in employment litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies• Background advising employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws• Strong experience drafting employment policies and agreements• Experience conducting workplace investigations• Ability to deliver effective employment-related compliance trainings• Excellent written and verbal communication skills• Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment
