About Dearborn Hospital

It is a Level II trauma center and has been recognized for clinical excellence and innovation in the fields of orthopedics, neurosciences, women’s health, heart & vascular, and cancer care.
Scope of work
Performs and provides expertise and guidance to a variety of technical skills, including provision of fully functional equipment. Recommends complex specialty equipment purchases and inventory levels. Initiates purchase orders. Performs patient care activity by assisting with Endoscopy procedures under the supervision of a nurse. Care provided is based on physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients.
Summary of Responsibilities
Procedure Support: Assists physicians and nurses with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including specimen collection, both in procedure rooms and at patient bedsides.
Equipment Management: Operates and maintains complex medical equipment, ensuring safety and functionality. Orders and tracks specialty equipment and supplies, including stents per FDA guidelines.
Training & Leadership: Acts as a leader and preceptor for onboarding new staff and validating skills of RNs, LPNs, and technicians.
Sterilization & Quality Control: Cleans and disinfects equipment, processes instruments for sterilization, troubleshoots issues, and maintains quality assurance records.
Preparedness & Safety: Ensures all necessary equipment and supplies are ready before procedures. Responds to emergencies and participates in CPR situations.
Professionalism & Education: Maintains high professional standards, attends in-services, and supports the education and orientation of staff and students.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- 2 years of recent Endoscopy experience Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required upon hire
