Job Summary
General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.
Whether a specific satellite for a specific mission or a constellation of interconnected spacecraft, the GA-EMS Space Systems team is re-defining how customers can access the possibilities of space. GA-EMS offers modular and scalable satellite platforms backed with a history of operational flight experience to support defense, civil, commercial, and academic mission requirements.
Our Space Systems team is seeking a dynamic and experienced Parts, Materials, and Process (PMP) Engineer to lead the development and implementation of PMP processes for cutting-edge Space Systems programs at GA-EMS. In this role, you will play a key role within our Specialty Engineering team, contributing to the design, assembly, and testing of advanced space vehicles and payloads. This position offers the opportunity to work on-site in Englewood, CO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Parts Selection and Qualification: Identify, evaluate, and qualify electrical, mechanical, and structural components to ensure compliance with program requirements and industry standards. Perform EEEE parts analysis, including parts derating and Worst Case Circuit analysis, to ensure system reliability, identify potential risks, and optimize performance under extreme conditions.
Compliance Assurance: Ensure all parts, materials, and processes meet program-specific requirements, industry standards (e.g., NASA, MIL-STD, or IPC), and mission assurance guidelines.
Materials Analysis: Assess and select materials and processes for spacecraft components to ensure compatibility with space environments, including radiation, thermal, and vacuum conditions.
Contamination Control: Assess and select materials for spacecraft components to ensure compliance with contamination control requirements, including SV-level contamination control and the implementation of contamination control processes to minimize risks and ensure system reliability.
Parts, Materials, and Process Control: Lead the execution of the Parts, Materials, and Process Selection Board by maintaining comprehensive records of parts and materials qualifications, process validations, and test results to ensure traceability and facilitate audits.
Process Development: Develop, document, and implement processes to ensure program mission assurance requirements are satisfied.
Risk Assessment: Evaluate risks associated with parts, materials, and processes and develop mitigation strategies to ensure mission success.
Supplier Oversight: Collaborate with suppliers to verify compliance with technical specifications and quality standards for parts and materials.
Testing Oversight: Plan and oversee testing of components and materials, including environmental testing, thermal cycling, vibration testing, and outgassing analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of parts and materials into spacecraft designs.
Mission Assurance Support: Provide technical expertise to the mission assurance team, ensuring all components and processes align with reliability and performance goals.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance reliability and efficiency in spacecraft development.
Training and Guidance: Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians on PMP-related topics.
We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
