Engineering Intern

Otter Tail Power Company is currently seeking qualified student applicants to fill one position for Mechanical or Electrical Engineer Intern at the Big Stone Power Plant, located near Big Stone City, South Dakota. These full-time internships are for 12 to 16 weeks during the summer of 2026.

The Engineer Intern will provide assistance to Plant Engineering in the following areas:

• Plant systems performance analysis
• Plant systems modification cost/benefit analysis
• Sub system Mechanical/Civil/Electrical design
• Electronic print updates

QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires excellent written communication skills and attention to detail in order to publish accurate study reports and provide accurate drawing updates. Furthermore, the role also requires strong oral communication skills used in working with plant staff and outside contractors and equipment vendors. The expected base compensation for this role is $17-$24 hourly.
