Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Engineering Lead- Materials based at our Berea Kentucky location.

What you will do:

  • Lead deployment of HYPull Materials, including systems, processes, technologies, and best practices that will lead to continuous improvement within the material handling realm to meet future business needs. Execute HYPull Materials principles within the facility.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the Industrial Engineering and Kanban team, including direct and indirect reports for performance management, associate relations, and associate development.
  • Ensure the team provides support and defines the requirements to the New Product Introduction (NPI) team.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support for existing materials processes, including kitting, sequencing, part presentation, etc.
  • Develop, distribute, and own metrics supporting the Materials Engineering activities. Assist with the facilitation and maintenance of the Internal Developed Automation (IDA) within the facility.
  • Lead and manage materials projects, maintaining budget, schedules, and overall end goal KPIs.
  • Collaborate and work with other HYMH facilities to share best practices along with alignment on standards.
  • Meet business goals in continuous improvement activities, including cost savings.
  • Effectively integrate new processes into the manufacturing operations.

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required (Industrial Engineering degree preferred).
  • Master's degree preferred in a field of Engineering.

Skills, Experience & Abilities:

  • Leadership- Strong leadership skills to drive continuous improvement, manage processes, and implement new concepts. Ensure team success through coaching and training for knowledge and skills.
  • Continuous Improvement- Knowledge of lean manufacturing processes and problem solving. Ability to identify, lead, and coach teams in continuous improvement projects.
  • Industrial Knowledge- Knowledge and awareness of industrial technology, discrete manufacturing, and materials handling process trends, with the ability to assess their value and application to the HYMH global network.
  • Analytical Thinking- Significant analytical ability to resolve complex problems. Ability to use all types of problem-solving processes to implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Innovative Thinking- Skills and experience developing innovative/novel approaches to manufacturing challenges.
  • Project Management- Strong project management skills and experience.
  • Change Management- The ability to help individuals and groups successfully make transitions in the adoption and realization of the change needed to achieve the required business outcome.
  • Communication- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to provide leadership to the team.
