Description
Job Summary/Objective: To assist engineering faculty and staff with the maintenance and administration of lab spaces and courses.
Position Type/Expected Work Hours: PT- Up to 20 hours per week. Students make their own schedule while working around any deadlines.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Lab assistants provide supplemental oversight to students enrolled in laboratory classes.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Clean and reorganize labs and supplies throughout the year
- Maintain inventory of lab equipment and supplies and request reorders/servicing as needed
- Assist in the care and repair of lab equipment
- Create student use guides for new equipment
- Assist faculty and staff with preparation and cleanup of labs
- Answer student questions and assist with the execution of the lab
- Administer pre-lab quizzes as deemed necessary by faculty
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Engineering major or minor
- Familiarity with lab equipment and supplies
- Completion of the lab course for which they are applying
- Ability to attend the lab course for which they are applying
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to make judicious decisions independently
- Possess diligence and initiative
- An "A" in the course for which they are applying and an overall "B" GPA in engineering/science courses
