Job Description
Are you passionate about driving engineering excellence and innovation? At KENT® Consumer Brands Americas, we're looking for a dynamic Engineering Technical Manager to lead our engineering, reliability, automation, and optimization efforts across our manufacturing sites. The Engineering Technical Manager will develop a Reliability program, manage capital needs, and lead the engineering team to drive sustainable operations. This role offers developmental opportunities for Process and Reliability Engineers and involves collaboration with Maintenance leads at each site. Your expertise will help build a culture of collaboration and innovation, influencing the development of a world-class engineering function.
- This position is designed and intended to be performed in Muscatine, IA.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads, develops, and evaluates the Engineering team. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop people is essential.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures that the facilities’ equipment and operations are reliable and fully utilized.
- Be the voice of manufacturing for innovation, packaging, and product development projects. Lead identification of manufacturing equipment and equipment suppliers in support of growth objectives.
- Provides technical training to management and other team members.
- Coordinates work performed by outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.
- Maintain knowledge of plant-wide process equipment and the proper maintenance requirements of that equipment
- Ensures an Asset Life Cycle and Standardization program is implemented and maintained.
- Responsible for the automation systems and engineering across the network.
- Establish, coordinate, and implement work priorities and specific maintenance plans in cooperation with engineers and maintenance technicians
- Provide technical assistance to crew member and other employees
- Maintain accurate and complete records of work performed and manpower time distribution
- Practice and enforce good safety procedures in all work performed
- Ensure proper housekeeping and general clean-up practices during and after work completion
- Organization, prioritization and management of job assignments and personnel
- Operation of a Computerized Maintenance Management System
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Practice (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred)
- 10 Years+ previous experience in a manufacturing environment desired, must have experience with automation equipment and packaging systems.
- Thorough understanding of maintenance, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
TRAVEL EXPECTED:
- Up to 25% travel to other facilities and headquarters as needed.
