Job Description

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and auditing health, safety, and environmental programs to achieve an incident-free work environment, while ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations, including Universal Waste disposal, recycling, reporting, and Responsible Recycling (R2) standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Effectively manage and lead all aspects of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program.
- Investigate incidents and manage related regulatory inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.
- Lead responses to all safety and environmental incidents, including property loss, near misses, first aid cases, OSHA recordable injuries, and lost-time incidents.
- Review incident trends, conduct root cause/5-Why analyses, and train others on findings to eliminate future risks.
- Support workers’ compensation claim management, ensuring use of preferred medical providers and effective execution of the Return-to-Work program.
- Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to identify exposure risks in job functions.
- Perform monthly facility safety audits and lead monthly Safety Team meetings.
- Conduct focused and periodic audits of compliance processes, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions to ensure OSHA, EPA, state, and federal compliance.
- Maintain accurate OSHA and environmental sustainability recordkeeping.
- Lead sustainability initiatives and efforts to achieve and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.
- Support management and operations teams on new initiatives from a safety and training perspective.
- Coach employees and trainers on EHS principles, including PPE, forklift safety, lockout/tagout, hazard communication/SDS, ergonomics, and injury/illness prevention.
- Promote behavior-based safety practices and lead risk reduction initiatives.
- Perform risk assessments, determine corrective actions, and ensure execution of gap closure plans.
- Analyze data trends to set priorities and drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct site visits and EHS activities (training, auditing, and assessments) to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Report regularly to Corporate Safety Leadership on EHS performance and budget execution.
- Support EHS teams in reducing losses and accommodating light-duty work assignments.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
- 5 years of experience managing and implementing EHS programs.
- 5+ years of safety experience in a light manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics environment.
- Minimum 3 years of direct supervisory experience.
- Experience managing multiple locations, EHS programs, and teams.
- Strong ability to persuade, influence, and deliver formal presentations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presenting to large audiences.
- Self-motivated and results-driven.
- Collaborative team player with a focus on achieving outcomes.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to make independent decisions and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Professional certification (ASP, CSP, GSP, STS, CIH, CSD, CSS).
- R2, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 experience.
Educational Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor Degree (BS in Occupational Health & Safety or ASP/GSP/CSP is a plus).
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Warehouse environment.
- Travel up to 10–20%, depending on business needs.
