Primary Shift: 6:00 PM - 2:30 AM

Central Vermont Medical Center is seeking an Environmental Services Technician to join our team!

Please note: The shift schedule for this role is 6:00PM-2:30AM with every other weekend scheduling required.

This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Management Team, the technician will perform specialized and general cleaning duties in accordance with CVMC guidelines to minimize hospital-acquired infections.

COMPENTENCIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Infection Control & Cleaning Standards

  • Perform cleaning tasks in patient care areas following strict infection control protocols.

  • Execute the 9-step cleaning procedure to ensure thorough sanitation.

  • Safely clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, patient furniture, and precautionary areas using approved disinfectants.

Technical Skills & Safety

  • Operate cleaning equipment and tools safely and effectively.

  • Use technology for documentation and communication (e.g., email, bedboard systems).

Customer Service & Communication

  • Demonstrates professional, courteous, and compassionate interactions with patients, visitors, and staff using AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) and other scripting tools.

  • Report safety hazards and maintenance needs promptly.

  • Attend departmental meetings and trainings regularly.

Adaptability & Initiative

  • Respond to emergency situations appropriately.

  • Support additional functions and tasks as needed.

  • Participate in waste management and recycling programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Duties require the ability to read and write and communicate routine information, must be able to work reliably from written instructions. Good customer service and interpersonal skills are desirable.

EXPERIENCE:

No experience needed as this is an entry level position.
