Veterinary Assistant – Emergency (Swing Shift)

Location: Concord, CASchedule: Full-Time | Sun-Wed | 3:00 PM – 1:00 AMCompensation: $25 – $32/hour (based on experience)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency Department Swing Shift team. This role is best suited for a seasoned VA who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity emergency setting and enjoys working closely with an elite team of ER doctors and specialists.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with triaging incoming patients and managing flow throughout the ER
Assist DVMs and RVT’s with patient assessments, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters
Calculate and administer medications via IV and other routes
Obtain and process lab samples (blood, urine, fluids, aspirates)
Assist with imaging (X-ray, ultrasound)
Gather patient history, take vitals, and communicate with clients clearly and compassionately

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 2 years of clinical veterinary experience (ER experience strongly preferred)
Strong venipuncture, catheter placement, and medication administration skills
Solid understanding of emergency protocols and patient care
Ability to lift 40+ lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
