Position Highlights

Position Summary:

An exercise specialist performs electrocardiogram (ECG) tests on patients while they exercise. The technician monitors the patient's heart rate, blood pressure, and pain levels to accumulate data about their heart function.

Responsibilities:

  • Explains procedure to the patient and complete consent form.
  • Prep skin to obtain good EKG tracing.
  • Use proper electrode placement and equipment set up.
  • Obtain manual BP's and follow the correct stress protocol.
  • Monitor patients for safety during exercise.
  • Document ongoing patient vitals during and after the stress test.
  • Enter all patient data accurately into the stress report.
  • Maintain ECG equipment and lab.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday.

Work Environment:

May be required to deal with unpleasant environmental situations resulting from patient care or patient activity.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor in Exercise Science is required. 2-3 years of cardiac patient care experience with strong knowledge of cardiac rhythms preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

None Required.
