Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Provides direct supervision of Safety/ Security Specialist. Manages, recommends for Hire, and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel. (20%)
  • Manages, Safety/Security Specialist, trains, develop, coordinate, and conducts in service training for assigned staff. Communicates with assigned staff and administrators to resolve safety issues. (20%)
  • Conducts routine Audits on Safety / Security specialist at each site and documents findings. Varies Inspections so pattern cannot be. predetermined (10%)
  • Responsible for intervening in hostile situations seeking to ensure a positive outcome. (20%)
  • Trains staff on all types of emergencies, fire drills, emergency preparedness drills and Hazardous Surveillance.
  • Performs monthly safety audits /safety checks and reports the status to the Safety Manager. (5%)
  • Maintains the appearance of site/grounds in coordination with maintenance staff. Including snow removal and de-icing agent application to sidewalks throughout day. (5%)
  • Provides detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents that may have occurred. (5%)
  • Conducts building and grounds surveys on periodic and regular basis to detect code violations, hazards. Performs a variety of safety surveys and inspections. Assigns investigations to staff. (5%)
  • Monitors, Analyzes, and identifies makes recommendation to improve Safety policies, procedures and guidelines. (5%)

MARGINAL JOB DUTIES

  • Assist with employee or patient terminations.
  • Ensures appearance of GLBHC sites/grounds and coordinates with maintenance staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Education:High school graduate or equivalent. Higher education in area of Criminal Justice is encouraged.
  • Licensure: Valid Michigan Driver's License.
  • Experience: One year in safety, related field required, Security, law enforcement, fire suppression or military preferred.
  • Skills: Computer skills and two-way radio operation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse patient/staff population. Must display good customer skills and be able to handle high stress situations.
  • Environment: Ability to work exposed to natural elements.
  • Physical Effort: Must be able to sit, stand, and or walk for an entire workday. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and or twist while holding up to 50 lbs. often. Must have the stamina/dexterity to handle physical altercations as required.
  • Hours of Work: Full-time or Part-time; Flexible and varied.
  • Scope: Ability to follow directions and prioritize work assignments.
  • Travel: Local travel between GLBHC sites required. Reimbursement in accordance with GLBHC travel policy. Must be a licensed driver with proof of personal liability and property damage insurance.
