Northern Trust is looking for experienced modelers/data scientists to join the Risk Advanced Analytics team. Responsibilities include working with large and complex data sets (both internal and external data) to develop, monitor and support the implementation of advanced analytics solutions and regulatory models
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Perform data analysis and advanced modeling techniques to solve complex business problems, provide insights and create innovative solutions
- Develop econometric forecasting models for key balance sheet and income statement line items (e.g. deposit forecasting, revenue forecasting) under different macroeconomic scenarios as part of the annual stress testing exercise
- Create predictive models for estimating probability of default and losses as part of the Bank's capital adequacy process
- Exercise independent judgement in identifying and resolving problems within established guidelines and development framework
- Interact with the Data Analytics team to request and ensure high quality data are utilized in the model development process
- Communicate regularly with key business partners, management, oversight committees and regulators by acting as a subject matter expert.
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- Graduate degree in a related field (math, statistics, economics) is required
- 5+ years of experience in banking and/or data science /modeling is required
- Experience with developing CCAR and PPNR models is preferred
- Experience with Time Series modeling techniques is required
- Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Experience using statistical programming languages such as Python, SAS, SQL
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation and data visualization skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with peers, senior management and overseas partners
- Ability to work under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple deliverables.

Salary Range:
$83,100 - 141,300 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
