Job Description: Electronic Design Technician
OmniOn Power is seeking an entry-level electronic technician to perform EMC testing of DC power systems and electronic power supplies during the New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change (EC) processes. The technician’s role consists of executing a comprehensive list of electromagnetic compatibility tests and documenting the results.
Essential Responsibilities
- Interpret EMC standards, technical specifications, electrical schematics, and block diagrams
- Select appropriate test equipment and fixtures to perform required tests per the electrical and EMC engineering test plans
- Connect the UUT to input / output cabling and fixturing prior to testing
- Setup unit under test (UUT) in the EMC chamber with various cooling mechanisms (fan, conduction, liquid)
- Utilize automatic test equipment (ATE) to perform EMC and electrical tests
- Document all test results in accordance with strict EMC data formats for the FCC (US), EN (Europe), IEC (International), and other country requirements
- Assist engineering teams to interpret and duplicate non-compliances
- Maintain lab equipment and calibration standards per ISO-17025 requirements
- Follow all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) requirements such as LOTO
- Coordinate engineering requests and assure timely and accurate completion of all action items
Qualifications/Requirements
- Associate’s degree (2 year) in Electronics
- Minimum 2 years of experience with oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, and data logging instruments
Desired Characteristics
- Knowledge of electrical and EMC measurement techniques
- Ability to interpret technical requirements as they apply to power conversion devices to determine whether documented requirements and standards are met
- Working knowledge of AC and DC sources, electronics loads and thermal chambers
- Experience with Microsoft MACROs, Visual Basic and other lab automation software
- Ability to efficiently manage time and coordinate priorities with multiple engineers
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL and WORD
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for OmniOn Power in United States
