Position Overview:

Oversees operational compliance and policy and procedures as defined by regulatory offices including storage, procurement, compounding of hazardous and nonhazardous materials sterile products and narcotics. Oversees the storage of sterile preparations and ensures compounded sterile preparations are prepared safely in accordance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) requirements, professional standards of practice, and the laws, rules and regulations. Is responsible for coordinating initiatives directed at improving and assuring the safe use of medication with the organization including Medication Error Reduction Plan (MERP), adverse drug reaction monitoring and quality improvement initiatives. Supervises pharmacy technician in the implementation, support and evaluation of operational pharmacy activities Division of Ambulatory Surgery (DAS).

Job Description:


JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Assist in evaluating, implementing and performing quality improvement and quality control mechanisms to assess quality and appropriateness of services provided.

Supervise daily activities of the pharmacy technician to ensure that quality services are provided in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Assign and edit drug reviews for Formulary consideration. Coordinate, implement and communicate formulary changes.

Update and maintain pharmacy readiness for survey by regulatory bodies.

Reviews controlled substance records for discrepancies, errors and reports discrepancies to the director.

Assures adequate control and documentation of controlled substances.

Develop and maintain policies and procedures for all medication related policies.

Review records routinely to assure accountability and conformity with legal requirements; report any discrepancies and deviations to the Executive Director of DAS.


EDUCATION:


Other: Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy


CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

PHARMR-Registered Pharmacist


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

5 years recent relevant experience.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Have working relations with staff employees, physicians and other medical personnel.

Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards.

Knowledge of State, Federal and accrediting body regulations and standards, performs in accordance with them.

Demonstrated ability to conduct education and training programs

Computer literate in Microsoft Windows environment with moderate level of competency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Able to effectively coordinate and implement changes in operations.

Able to manage multiple priorities and have sound clinical pharmacy skills.

Pay Range is $100.88 to $121.05 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
