Job Description

Archbishop Spalding High School is accepting applications for the position of Health & Physical Education teacher for the 2025 - 2026 academic year.  

Essential Functions

  • Provide rigorous college preparatory academic teaching while upholding the values and ideals of the school's Catholic identity.
  • Prove a grade appropriate instructional program for students in accordance with curriculum. Effective instruction will include differentiated learning.
  • Participate in faculty, curriculum, and team meetings, school committees, and professional development as needed.
  • Provide technology-enhanced instruction that leads to deeper understanding and real-world experiences.
  • Perform assigned duties supervising students, such as advisory and class substitution duties.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan, implement, and evaluate instructional programs.
  • Prepare daily and weekly lessons.
  • Maintain an attractive, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  • Meet with students for extra help during free periods, and before/after school.
  • Support the school through attendance at evening and weekend events as necessary, including, but not limited to, admissions, athletic and club events, parent/teacher conferences, etc.
  • Chaperon a minimum of 4 extracurricular activities.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Accurately report grades and attendance and uphold student code of conduct policies.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Health & Physical Education
  • Qualifications needed for MSDE secondary certification
  • In-depth knowledge of a variety of areas of Health and Fitness and Physical Education
  • An appreciation for, and willingness to collaborate with teams
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing digital or online platforms, specifically Google Suite and Canvas
  • Enthusiasm for working with adolescents
  • A deep understanding of adolescent pedagogy and development
  • A desire to grow through reflective professional practice
  • A desire to build a community of connection and belonging

Pay Range: $42,500 - $85,000, Annualized
