Job Description

The Distribution Center yard truck associate is responsible for moving trailers in and out of docks, trailer logs, and flow of dock area.  Additional responsibilities when not operating the yard truck may include receiving, splitting, picking, loading, and shipping. 

Pay Range: $20 - $22 Based on experience

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  1. The yard truck associate reports directly to the Distribution Center Shipping Lead.
  2. The yard truck associate has no direct supervisory authority

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Moving and relocating trailers throughout the Distribution Center trailer yard.
  2. Loading & unloading of trailers, including flatbeds
  3. Maintain proper trailer weight distribution while maximizing trailer cubes/space
  4. Perform piece counts to verify accuracy
  5. Scan merchandise into inventory using scanning equipment.
  6. Scan product and pallets to truck Id’s in an accurate manner.
  7. Print price tags and price merchandise accordingly.
  8. Break down merchandise into smaller quantities for shipping to retail locations.
  9. Assist with floor loaded shipments, both inbound and outbound.
  10. Responsible for accurate allocation of quantities.
  11. Submit packing slips and freight bills as necessary.
  12. Cross check quantities to packing slip, making necessary notations when needed.
  13. Load merchandise onto proper pallet, shrink wrap when necessary.   
  14. Properly secure shipments to prevent product and trailer damage.
  15. Daily tractor and trailer inspections
  16. Maintain logbook when applicable.
  17. Keep and maintain records of inbound and outbound trailers
  18. Monitor and maintain tractor while reporting and recommending maintenance.
  19. Subject to random company testing. 
  20. Practice safety in the workplace by using safe work habits with a safety-first mindset.

OTHER DUTIES

  1. Other duties as assigned for facility operation and deadline needs.
  2. May require travel to assist in other facilities or training.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Computer skills required.
  2. Forklift experience required.
  3. Frequent lifting up to 50 pounds
  4. Long periods of standing & sitting
  5. Frequent bending and twisting

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  1. 2 years prior CDL driving experience or lot duty experience preferred.
  2. High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  3. Prior warehouse experience preferred.
  4. Prior Forklift experience required.
  5. 1-year prior shipping and receiving experience preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

  1. Distribution Center environment
  2. Cold and warm dock conditions
