Job Description
Summary:
Production Trainers train and assist hourly employees in developing the skills they need to perform their jobs. Create ergonomic knife techniques that include sharpening and maintaining sharpened tools. The trainee will assist the Training Manager in improving training techniques, equipment knowledge, and position requirements. Assist the production supervisors in progressive training the department's employees.

Duties:
- Work directly with production employees, training and coordinating their activities in accordance with company policy.
- Make recommendations to prevent recurrence of any injuries or accidents with timely written feedback.
- Establish and maintain a safe workplace awareness program, including regular safety meetings for the department.
- Provide hands-on training on the job to develop an effective workforce.
- Walk the production line, watching for improper knife usage and sharpening techniques that could result in an employee not having a sharp knife.
- Identify employees that require additional training and schedule training time with them.
- Evaluate the performance (techniques) of hourly production employees in regards to sharpening cutting tools.
- Document and identify trends in maintaining a sharp cutting tool with employees, tools or jobs/tasks most at risk.
- Train production employees in product conformance and specifications and oversee machine set-up and adjustments.
- Keep track of employees' progress until they qualify for the assigned position.
- Rotate between jobs & departments as needed.
- Pull count on the line during emergency situations.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualification Requirements:

- Must spent the majority of the time on the floor training unless excused by the training manager.
- Must maintain a sharp knife that will pass random knife testing at any time.
- Failure to meet the above may result in a demotion from the trainer position and placement back on the floor.
Preferred Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle, or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak; hear taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 200 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb ladders.
Work Environment:
The work environment is primary in the plant in the production floors, with some time spent in a corporate setting. While performing this job's duties, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and humid conditions. The employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperature, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
- Requires several hours of sitting per shift, with frequent periods of standing, walking, reaching, and bending
- Must be able to stand for periods up to 10 hours
- Occasionally lift, carry, position, or move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Required PPE - hardhat, cotton/protective gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe boots, surgical face mask, and/or face shield
Typical Work Schedule: The schedule for this position is typically Mon - Fri. Weekend work is required as scheduled. Saturdays generally are scheduled. The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal communication skills in both their dominant language and English. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Possess the skill set to communicate with others effectively and clearly within and outside of the Company.
- Must be able to communicate in English, and/or , Spanish, French, Burmese, Pashto, Creole.
- Ability to communicate with a diverse work force, and all levels of management.
