Base Pay Range: $21.65 - $29.76

Position Summary

The Maintenance Custodian Tech plays a key role in supporting the facilities needs at Banner Engineering's Corporate campus in Plymouth, MN. This Mid-shift position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the buildings and will primarily work during the hours of 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday. It is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working individually with some collaboration across teams, staying on top of tasks, and making a meaningful contribution across teams and projects.

This position reports to the Facilities Manager.

According to the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), this position is classified as: Non-Exempt

What You'll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for facility-related needs during the mid-shift, ensuring quick and respectful response.
  • Responsible for securing and arming the buildings at the HQ site at the end of each workday
  • Clean assigned buildings on the corporate campus, including, but not limited to vacuuming, cleaning windows, dusting, washing floors, disposing of trash, and other general cleaning duties as requested.
  • Aid facility team in identifying root cause of facility equipment issues.
  • Stock and restock lunchroom consumables such as utensils, napkins, and plates.
  • Occasional bathroom cleaning on an as needed basis.
  • Build cubicle configuration, set up desks, and assist with work areas moves; collaborate with facilities team and managers to ensure workspace is available and ready for new employees.
  • Minor repairs on facilities equipment including snow blower, leaf blower, vacuum, etc.
  • Perform exterior maintenance, including picking up litter, picking up broken tree limbs, pulling weeds, sweeping debris, removing cobwebs from around windows and entrances, and removing snow and ice from sidewalks
  • Identify needed repairs to facilities, office furniture, equipment, or fixtures. Collaborate with manager and other team members on repairs.
  • Manage and execute assigned tasks and projects in line with business timelines or team goals.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal customers to ensure the site is clean and operating in a safe manner.
  • Effectively communicate with external vendors, including food vending contractors and cleaning contractors.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to existing processes or practices within the facilities department.
  • Uphold compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Support training and safety initiatives to foster a productive and safe environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience with building security and arming or disarming alarm systems.
  • Must be dependable and possess integrity.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and keep oneself accountable and on task.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment, such as snow blowers and vacuums.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in facilities, maintenance, custodial, or building management.
  • Proven past experience of general maintenance tasks such as, hand tools, small power tools, floor scrubbers, vacuums, and etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

  • Ability to be trained on and safely operate a pallet jack, forklift, snow removal machines, and other equipment as needed.
  • Communicate with others frequently both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment and travel to other facilities when needed.

  • Corporate office environment - indoor and climate-controlled.
  • Exposure to production and warehouse environment with some noise exposure.
  • Must exercise caution around moving pallet jacks, forklifts, snow removal equipment, and other equipment or tools in the work environment.
  • Outdoor work with exposure to weather elements such as heat, wind, rain, snow, or ice.
  • Good, clean working conditions with occasional exposure to dirt or dust.
  • Exposure to various cleaning chemicals daily.
  • Frequent interaction with internal employees across all levels of the organization-including entry-level staff to senior leadership.
  • Occasional interaction with external vendors.
  • Exposure to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, and temperature changes.
