Job Description
SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT:January 2nd - May 18th 2026 PAY RATE:
$450.00 per week plus seasonal housing POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Facilities/Maintenance Lead will build relationships to create a healthy environment for all staff and members of the YMCA by working to support the janitorial and cleaning, maintenance, and grounds needs of the facility. The position consists of day to day leadership and organization of the facilities team while also thoroughly communicating with other departments about ongoing needs or projects. Ongoing needs and projects include, but aren’t limited to, the daily turnover and maintenance of our Short Term Rental Cabins in the morning and handling any maintenance and facilities concern throughout the day. They will provide a safe work environment for all staff and members and report to the Director of Facilities.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:● Perform routine inspections and basic repairs on buildings, cabins, and campinfrastructure.● Help prepare our Short Term Rental cabins for guests that are checking in
● Clean and prepare cabins for school and group arrivals● Troubleshoot and report any safety or structural hazards● Mow lawns, trim bushes, clear brush, and remove debris regularly● Assist with daily trash collection and disposal throughout camp● Clean restrooms, showers, and shared facilities on a regular schedule● Help with unloading deliveries and maintaining storage areas● Conduct routine safety checks of facilities, equipment, and public spaces● Ensure tools and hazardous materials are properly stored and labeled● Works with supervisor to assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate; ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.● Adheres to policies, standard operating procedures, and handbooks related to boundaries with youth.● Participates and attends all required abuse risk management training.● Adheres to standards & procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.● Reports any suspicious, inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to the supervisor immediately and complies with mandated YMCA and State of Hawaii abuse reporting requirements.● Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Minimum 1 year experience in general maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture preferred.● Knowledge of native plants, gardening, or nursery care is a plus.● Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments.● Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.● Ability to work independently and collaboratively on projects.● Compliance with YMCA child safety policies and abuse prevention training.Powered by JazzHR
