AB Spectrum provides specialized Reggio ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy for young children (ages 1-6), offering individualized, high-quality care in clinic settings that replicate a natural preschool environment. The Facility Maintenance Technician is essential to upholding the safety and high standards of our therapeutic environment.

Job Summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency across multiple assigned AB Spectrum therapy clinics. This role requires strong independence and accountability, adherence to detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), prioritizing the safety of our children, and executing rigorous photo documentation of all maintenance and cleaning activities using the Trello mobile app system.

  • Location: Multiple Locations (Travel required between all current and future clinic sites in St. Louis City and Surrounding Counties). Expected to visit 1-2 sites per day.
  • Reports To: Director of Facilities (with daily oversight by Center Director)
  • Type: Full-Time/Part-Time/Hourly
  • Schedule: Monday- Friday | 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
  • Compensation: Starting pay is $18.00 per hour. Compensation increases are based upon demonstrated skill level, knowledge, provided tools, personal transportation, and ability to work unsupervised.

Key Responsibilities

I. Site Maintenance, Safety, & Upkeep

  • Exterior Sweep: Conduct a thorough morning walk-through of the entire exterior, including the parking lot, back service areas, and outdoor playgrounds, to clear all trash, debris, weeds, and potential hazards.
  • Interior Upkeep (Closing Sweep): Perform a comprehensive interior check and restock/refill all common areas, staff break areas, and restrooms. Check and replenish all paper towels, hand sanitizer, and soap dispensers, and empty all internal trash cans.
  • Scheduled Work: Execute all pre-scheduled maintenance tasks and general repair work as assigned (e.g., minor painting, patching, equipment upkeep).

II. Communication & Workflow Management

  • Independent Work: Must possess the ability to work effectively unsupervised, managing time and tasks across multiple locations efficiently.
  • Arrival Check-in: Upon arrival, locate and check in with the on-site Center Director to discuss any immediate facility concerns or new issues that require attention. Document any new maintenance needs on the designated work order log.
  • Departure Verification: Meet with the Center Director prior to departure to confirm the completion of all tasks and verify that the facility is prepared for the next day.
  • Work Order Execution: Systematically address and complete all assigned daily and scheduled work orders efficiently and effectively.

III. Documentation & Reporting (Trello Mobile App-Centric)

  • Digital Clock-in/out: Clock in and out daily via a Trello message to the designated supervisor/system.
  • Photo Check-in: Submit a photograph of the main clinic exterior to the daily Trello card upon arrival.
  • Before & After Documentation (CRITICAL): Adhere to the strict policy of documenting all tasks and repairs with corresponding digital photographs uploaded to Trello.
  • Final Verification: Before clocking out, confirm that all required steps on the daily checklist have been completed and that all necessary "Before" and "After" photos are uploaded and linked to the Trello card.

Requirements

Compliance and Screening

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED is not required (preference is given to those with a technical degree or certifications in facilities maintenance).
  • Screening: Successful completion of a background check and drug screening is required. Must maintain a clear record throughout employment.
  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR): A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is required due to the travel demands of this position.

Technical Skills & Work Style

  • Expertise: Proven expertise in general facility maintenance, custodial, or janitorial services, with a strong emphasis on minor repairs and upkeep.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of general maintenance practices and safety regulations.
  • SOPs: Ability to read, understand, and meticulously follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and checklists.
  • Work Style: Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage a changing schedule across multiple locations, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment, especially within a child-focused setting.

Mobility, Tools, & Technology

  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Tools: Must have personal tools necessary to perform job duties efficiently.
  • Technology: Basic proficiency in using a mobile device for photo documentation, messaging, and utilizing software like Trello.
  • Mobile Device: A personal Mobile Phone with a working camera is required for documentation.

Physical Demands & Core Requirements

  • Physical Demands: Must be able to perform physical tasks, including walking, standing, bending, lifting, and carrying supplies and equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Attendance: Attendance is everything—it is the most important aspect of this role.
  • Professional Standards: Maintaining a professional look and positive attitude is imperative. Two uniform shirts will be supplied.
