Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team and ensure the smooth operation, safety, and maintenance of our campus facilities. This hands-on role is vital to the upkeep, efficiency, and preparedness of all physical infrastructure, from daily maintenance tasks to emergency response.

Location: Rockville, VA

Compensation: Competitive pay + great benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and coordinate repair and renovation projects across campus buildings

  • Work on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry (interior and exterior), office modifications, mechanical systems, painting, roofing, and both residential and commercial appliance repair

  • Conduct and log routine preventative maintenance appointments for HVAC systems, vehicles, appliances, and other infrastructure

  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed on schedule and in compliance with safety and operational standards

  • Monitor and troubleshoot fire alarm and sprinkler systems

  • Test and maintain generator systems

  • Respond to emergency situations including snow removal, flood extraction, and support of campus security

  • Assist with office relocations, space repurposing, and general labor assignments to support event and staff needs

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED, required

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or a related trade such as HVAC, electrical, or plumbing

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and systems issues

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through the ability to listen actively, collaborate effectively, and convey information clearly while maintaining a servant-hearted attitude

  • Proven experience in repairs, remodeling projects, and space reconfiguration for meetings or office use

  • Familiarity with implementing and maintaining preventive maintenance programs across various systems and equipment

  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use maintenance management software, email, and digital documentation tools
