Job Title: Part-Time Sports Nutritionist
Department: Athletics
Location: University of North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida
Reports To: Director of Sports Performance / Head Athletic Trainer
Position Type: Part-Time (10-20 hours/week)
Position Summary:
UNF Athletics is seeking a qualified and motivated Part-Time Sports Nutritionist to support the health and performance of our student-athletes. This position plays a vital role in providing evidence-based nutrition guidance tailored to the demands of collegiate athletics. The ideal candidate is passionate about sports nutrition, student wellness, and performance optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition plans for student-athletes in collaboration with strength and conditioning staff, athletic trainers, and coaches.
- Conduct one-on-one and small group consultations to address performance goals, weight management, hydration, recovery, and dietary restrictions.
- Provide education on meal planning, supplement use, fueling strategies, and safe weight-gain/loss practices.
- Coordinate with campus dining services to enhance the nutritional quality of meals offered to athletes.
- Monitor athlete progress and make data-informed adjustments to nutrition strategies.
- Assist in pre- and post-competition fueling strategies, including on-site support during games or practices as needed.
- Create educational materials, workshops, and presentations to promote nutrition awareness across teams.
- Stay current with NCAA regulations and best practices in sports nutrition.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) or eligible within 6 months.
- Knowledge of NCAA nutrition and supplement policies.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Experience working with collegiate or high-performance athletes.
- Master’s degree in Nutrition, Exercise Science, or related field.
- Familiarity with body composition assessment tools (e.g., DEXA, BIA, skinfold calipers).
Work Schedule:
- Flexible, with some evenings and weekends required based on team schedules.
- Hybrid or on-campus presence may be required depending on team needs and responsibilities.
Salary:
$25/hr. This is a part-time, non-benefits-eligible position.

The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance.
