Job Description

SUMMARY

This part-time position is responsible for supporting and implementing a marketing plan for the Parks and Recreation Department, including graphic design of marketing collateral (flyers, posters, park guides & banners), content creation for social media, and photography. This position may be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed by the department.

Starting Pay

$12.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements and assists in graphic design for all of the Divisions within the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Assists Coordinator of PR & Programming at local fairs and events to set up booths promoting department programs.
  • Visits department events, programs, and facilities, taking pictures for use in future advertising.
  • Assists in the creation of the seasonal Park Guide.
  • Assists in the design and distribution of posters, flyers, banners, radio and television commercials, web ads, print ads and other advertising as needed.
  • May include other clerical duties for the department as needed.
  • May accept and collect payments.
  • Prepares and processes purchase orders.
  • Oversees inventory of marketing collateral.
  • Contributes feedback and ideas for potential marketing campaigns.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Requires a High School Diploma and a minimum of one year of communications and graphic design experience.
  • Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver's License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. New residents are required to obtain a Texas driver license from the Texas Department of Public Safety within 90 days of moving to the state.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must have critical and creative thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
  • Ability to operate computers for data entry and word processing.
  • Ability to operate computer applications, such as Canva and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends if needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
  • Knowledge of photography, color theory, and graphic design.
