About this role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly proficient UI/UX Designer with at least 5 years of professional experience to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing complex, user-centric interactions for highly specialized applications that support warfighters in diverse and demanding environments. Your work will directly impact the usability, functionality, and overall effectiveness of tools critical to mission success. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of design principles, a passion for creating intuitive and efficient user experiences, and a strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-stakes settings. What you’ll do:
- Work with Project Managers, Product Managers, and software teams to develop user-centric solutions in an agile environment
- Create, maintain, document, and review user interface components and maintain visual consistency
- Research, investigate, and explore design-related aspects/options of features as necessary
- Test usability and functionality of concepts and developed components whenever possible
- Support design thinking-based workshops with warfighters to understand critical needs
- Work with leadership, Project Managers, production, and engineering teams to meet general visual communications and functional needs
- Create, edit, and review posters, presentation visuals, visual compositions of company products and operational concepts, diagrams, signs, company templates, and more
- Quality check and strive to improve anything you touch, including proofreading, visual clarity, and brand integrity
- Promote accessibility and best design practices grounded in design thinking frameworks
Requirements
Who you are:
You are a focused and detail-oriented UI/UX Designer with a solid foundation in crafting intuitive, user-centered designs for complex applications. You thrive in environments that demand precision and clarity, especially when working on mission-critical projects for highly specialized users. You excel at collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers and stakeholders, to deliver solutions that are not only highly usable and effective but optimized for rapid decision making. You are adaptable, able to work under tight deadlines and shifting priorities, with a deep understanding of how to balance user needs with technical constraints. Your experience spans both low- and high-fidelity prototyping, wireframing, and conducting user research to ensure your designs are always informed by real-world feedback.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Bachelor’s degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or Interaction Design, or demonstrated relevant experience
- 5+ years of professional experience as a UX Designer
- Proficiency with industry-standard design tools, including Adobe Xd, Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Solid grasp of the user-centered design process and the ability to plan and execute design thinking activities, conduct user research, and document and communicate findings
- Experience designing web apps and utilizing related UX tools and processes, including persona development, user journey mapping, and task flows
- Strong written and verbal communication ability
- Can contribute to and manage our design system and advocate for its use in an agile development environment
- Experience with user and usability testing, both in-person and remote
- Experience with presentation tools, such as PowerPoint, Miro, FigJam
- Strong visual design ability
- Capable of acquiring security clearance; candidates must meet all eligibility requirements and undergo a thorough background check
Nice to have:
- Experience with mission-critical systems in defense or similar fields
- Experience with agile project management and development platforms, including Jira, Confluence, React, and GitLab
- Familiarity with front-end development; ability to build low-level working prototypes using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript a plus
- Experience with animation, video, and simulation tools, such as Unreal Engine, Adobe After Effects, and AI-based tools
Salary: $95,00 - $115,000
