Job Description
Responsibilities include teaching introductory and advanced biology courses. There would also be the opportunity to offer interdisciplinary honors and general education courses. The Assistant Professor is responsible for developing an active research program involving undergraduate students. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and experiential learning. Successful applicants will have access to startup and institutional research and professional development funding.
Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and/or research experience in one or more of the following areas: cell and molecular biology, genetics, human or comparative physiology, human or comparative anatomy, embryology, histology, toxicology, cancer biology, or bioinformatics. A Ph.D. in biology or a closely related field is required, and post-doctoral experience is preferred.
The position includes laboratory and office space in our state-of-the-art Wanek School of Natural Sciences, which houses the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience and Physics. The Biology Department offers majors and minors in biology. Biology courses serve as foundational elements of applied and health science degrees at High Point University. The Assistant Professor is responsible for advising biology majors, and for service to the department, school, and university
