We are seeking a Scientist II-Architectural Historian to join our Atlanta, GA office, to join our growing Cultural Resources group in Atlanta, Georgia. The selected candidate for this position will apply their historic preservation knowledge and experience toward the assessment of infrastructure projects and will be responsible for the preparation of environmental documents in compliance with a variety of local, state, and national historic preservation laws.

How will you contribute to the team?
- Lead and conduct historic resource field surveys.
- Conduct background research on historic resources using a variety of primary and secondary sources.
- Evaluate historic resources for significance in accordance with local, state, and national historic preservation laws, as well as and other relevant environmental laws.
- Assess effects to historic resources, including working with engineering professionals and the overall project team to avoid or minimize impacts in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Prepare technical reports for distribution to state and federal agencies, including creating project and resource maps in ArcGIS.
- Maintain internal and external delivery schedules for all assigned projects, prioritized by project baseline schedule dates.
- Provide project status updates at meetings and serve as the point of contact for any historic resource questions on assigned projects.
- Must be prepared to spend some time in the field and travel to project sites, with some overnight visits required. Projects will generally be in Georgia but could also be outside of the state, as needed
What will you contribute?
- At a minimum, must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for History or Architectural History, including a degree in History, Architectural History, Historic Preservation, or a closely related field.
- 3-5 years of full-time professional Architectural Historian experience, including conducting historic resource surveys and background research, plus demonstrated ability to carry projects to completion.
- Familiarity with Georgia Department of Transportation processes is required.
- General understanding of the following industries: transportation, infrastructure, state and local governments, and/or regulatory/compliance.
- Basic level of experience with ArcGIS is desired; intermediate to advanced experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with reading transportation engineering plans is required.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Attention to detail is a must.
- Position may require use of company vehicle. Applicant must have valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy
