Job Description
STORE LEADER IN TRAINING
The Store Leader in Training's responsibility is to enhance and develop their skills to successfully lead, plan, organize, and control the activities of convenience store operations to include gasoline, retail, and food service. Although assigned to a specific location and Store Leader, they will often be called upon to cover Store Leader vacations, gaining invaluable experience as they prepare for promotion to Store Leader.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for controllable costs, sales projections, and operating profit
- Accountable to following systems and procedures designed to control supplies, lottery, shrink, and expenses
- Ensure control and protection of store inventories by verifying quality and quantity of deliveries, must not accept damaged, spoiled, or out of date product, and make certain credits are received for all returned product
- Monitor and document promos, voids, and waste; identify trends and must be proactive in finding resolution
- Take corrective action to prevent or resolve inventory losses caused by employee or vendor theft and accounting errors
- Follow labor budget based on established labor model, sales history, and current trends
- Train and motivate employees to suggestively sell promotions and loyalty programs
- Make certain store displays are set up in accordance with plan-o-grams and merchandising requirements
- Follow established build-to levels for all products when ordering; must not permit vendors to deliver more than amounts requested
- Ensure products are only purchased from approved vendors
- Conduct inventory counts on merchandise as requested by the company and accurately account for un-sellable product
- Assure proper ringing, reporting, and accounting of all sales including merchandise, gasoline, lottery, coupons, and gift cards
- Complete responsibilities within established deadlines and maintain commitments
- Customarily exercise discretion and independent judgment to ensure sound operations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to provide excellence in service, perform basic mathematical calculations, read and write, and understand and follow instructions
- Must be detail-oriented and accurate
- Must have good interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a busy environment
- Store Leaders are scheduled a variable five days, 50-hour work week or as business necessitates
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- Prior management experience in a retail operation or experience within Parker's
- Must maintain a current, valid, and unrestricted driver's license
- Successful completion of ServSafe Certification
- Successful completion of age restricted alcohol and tobacco sales training
- Successful completion of UST Training
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Shift Length- Varies- 8 to 10 hour shifts
- Flooring and Lighting- Cement, tile, textured flooring and fluorescent lighting
- Environment- Subject to wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noise
