Part-Time Weekends - 16 Hours
Saturday and Sunday: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm


 

Job Summary

The MR Patient Coordinator under the direction of the MR supervisor, who reports to the Radiology Program Manager and Director of Radiology, assists in the MR workflow by scheduling Emergency and Inpatient MR scans, answering phones, preparing patient’s for scans, phone screening, paging Radiologists and providers as needed and other related tasks The coordinator will perform clinical tasks utilizing EPIC to assist in safe patient scanning under the technologist’s guidance. The Coordinator should be team orientated and comfortable with multi-tasking while maintaining quality, safety and patient satisfaction.


 

Qualifications

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
•    Assists in communication requests from outside providers by answering and transferring phone calls as needed. 
•    Makes screening phone calls for MR exams and procedures as required.
•    Schedule same day add-on, ED and inpatient MR requests into the schedule worklist.
•    Proficient use of the EMR for history, lab and allergy look-up and documentation.
•    Assist in MR Room turn-over.
•    Patient ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher transport as needed.
•    Assist in safe patient transfer from stretcher and MR bed.
•    Reviewing MR exam orders to ensure all required documentation is included.
•    Confirm when required on all MR orders:
    Order matches signs/symptoms
    All required orders are in place
    Prior authorization is in place
    Labs are available or ordered
    Contrast allergies are highlighted
    MR safety screening form completed.
1.    Conducts a verbal interview with each patient before their exam to confirm and document MR safety.
2.    Completes safety screening documentation in EPIC according to established procedure.
3.    Alerts MR technologist of any concerns during the safety screening including discussion of MR safety of any and all implanted metallic or electronic devices.
4.    Obtains patient signatures and indicates that MRI prescreening in completed in EPIC.

•    Ensures insurance prior authorizations have been acquired.  Communicates with managed care staff and physician’s offices as needed to secure authorizations.  
•    Consistently demonstrates effective communication, both written and verbal, with all departmental and hospital staff.  
•    Takes initiative to follow up on matters as required.
•    Performs all other duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient operation of the department and quality patient care.
