School Day Therapist - Position Overview:
- Provide the clinical support necessary for implementation of the psychotherapeutic service and for quality student care through the establishment of a comprehensive therapeutic relationship with students and families based on the provision of individual, family and group psychotherapy in addition to crisis management and intake assessments.
Job Responsibilities:
Therapeutic Relationship
- Conduct individual therapy sessions.
- Conduct family therapy sessions as needed.
- Conduct group therapy sessions as needed.
- Assist with managing crises and conduct risk assessments.
- Works closely with School Counselor (or designee) to assist students recommended for assessment or clinical services.
- Assist in the coordination of the Discharge/Aftercare plan with each student.
Administrative Support
- Maintain documentation of services provided to ensure timely reporting.
- Contact families and schedule and complete initial intake psychosocial assessments when students are referred for services.
- Complete individualized treatment plans in CareLogic within 48 hours of intake.
- Review treatment plans every six months.
- Document the results of all therapeutic sessions in CareLogic within 48 hours.
- Consult teachers and support staff regarding behavior plans and progress/regression in the classroom.
- Complete Aftercare Plan prior to each student's last week of treatment in conjunction with student and family/guardian district.
- Complete a Discharge Summary on each student within ten calendar days of discharge.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional Standards
- Maintain professional licensure and present proof of licensure renewal.
- Participate in staff training and education program as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in an applied mental health field.
- Minimum of two years of experience in outpatient or residential services.
- Mississippi Licensed in mental health field required.
- Demonstrated competence working with families and youth.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English, and be able to communicate in a therapeutic and professional manner.
