Job Description

We are currently seeking a compassionate and driven Veterinarian to join our client's team in Nashville, TN. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine your clinical skills with meaningful impact in the local community. You’ll work in a dynamic, high-volume setting that prioritizes animal welfare, public health, and collaborative care.

As a licensed veterinarian, you’ll be responsible for medical examinations, diagnostics, treatment plans, surgeries, and preventive care, while contributing to shelter medicine protocols and public education efforts. This position is ideal for candidates who are passionate about community-based veterinary care and want to be part of an organization that values both animal health and public service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform physical exams, diagnostics, and treatment on a variety of animals, primarily cats and dogs.

  • Perform sterilizations and other surgical procedures as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in accordance with regulatory standards.

  • Provide medical oversight and support to shelter staff, veterinary technicians, and volunteers.

  • Collaborate with animal control, shelter staff, and rescue organizations to ensure the health and well-being of animals in care.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and licensing regulations.

  • Promote and support community outreach initiatives, including spay/neuter programs, wellness clinics, and educational campaigns.

  • Participate in emergency response and after-hours consultation as needed.

  • Provide leadership in medical decision-making and contribute to continuous improvement of animal care standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinary Medical Doctor (VMD) degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Active and unrestricted license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Tennessee.

  • DEA license to prescribe, administer, and dispense controlled substances.

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of clinical experience preferred (shelter or high-volume setting is a plus).

  • Proficient in surgical and diagnostic techniques.

  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and mission-driven environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary: $115,000 – $165,000
