Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: Assists with the County’s account receivables, credit card program, accounts payable transactions, journal entrees, employee benefits, account and bank reconciliations and invoicing for services provided.  Works on special projects as defined by the Finance Director.  The position is a 40-hour-a-week position, with a full benefits package. Pay commensurate with qualifications and experience with a starting wage of $29.97 per hour. Please note, applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.KEY EXPECTED RESULTS:

  1. Oversees the maintenance of the County Credit Card program including WEX
  2. Reconciles deposits to bank statements and tracks revenue and expense accounts.
  3. Serves as backup for Accounts Payable – verifies weekly AP documentation
  4. Enters daily deposits
  5. Updates retirement limits and IPP rates
  6. Prepares and uploads weekly journal entrees
  7. Reconciles employee benefits as well as employee billing
  8. Maintains the account payable detail, ACH vendor payments, W-9, certificates of insurance and prepares annual 1099 forms
  9. Prepares monthly accounts receivable invoices and billing for County services, including tracking and reconciling MDEA, Patrol, Jail, Parking Garage, False Alarm and other billable invoices to the trial balance
  10. Aids in the research and distribution of unclaimed funds.
  11. Gathers information and data entry for Patrol Contracts
  12. Assists the Finance Director in the compilation and preparation of material for the annual audit.
  13. Prepares monthly JIMS report
  14. Review surcharge transactions/accounts
  15. Prepares reports for FOAA request
  16. Tracks and maintains all office tasks and deadlines
  17. Prepares monthly/quarterly department budget reports
  18. Creates, updates and maintains department procedures
  19. Works with staff on compliance of local, state and federal grant funding and reporting.
  20. Serves as backup for payroll and other department tasks as assigned
  21. Understands software applications such as MUNIS, Excel and other software used by the office. (Proficient in Excel is a requirement)
  22. Complies with Federal, State and local legal requirements by following policies and procedures.
  23. Attention to detail and accuracy
  24. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  25. Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  26. Ability to work productively & cooperatively with supervisors, employees and external contacts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in accounting or business preferred plus four years of experience in similar job function. 
  • Public Sector accounting preferred, but not required.
  • Four years of accounting experience in a governmental setting is preferred.  
  • Understanding of software used, or easily adapted to new software. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team member.
