Job Description

Gibson & Associates, Inc. is seeking highly motivated and energetic people to join our team. We are currently looking to fill the position of Fleet Maintenance Manager working in the Texas area.As a Fleet Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of all shop personnel to ensure the timely maintenance of all construction equipment and fleet vehicles. This position is based out of the shop located at Company Headquarters in Balch Springs, TX but may require the employee to travel from time to time depending on certain maintenance needs in the field. We perform work through Texas as well as cities in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. Over 30 years later, Gibson & Associates, Inc. has undergone tremendous growth and employed hundreds of men and women as it continues to provide top quality services to Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and more.Job responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Provide overall management of equipment and vehicle maintenance and directly supervise a team of 3-5 mechanics and shop helpers to give day-to-day direction of shop operations.
  • Provide technical assistance and help troubleshoot general maintenance issues for various types of equipment including, but not limited to: fleet trucks (International, Peterbilt, Mack, Ford, Chevrolet, and Toyota), air compressors, forklifts, loaders, skid steers, aerial lifts, hydra platforms, trailers, concrete mixers, concrete finishing machines, arrow boards, and message boards.
  • Maintain a readiness to provide support, direction, or act in response to equipment breakdowns.
  • Report to Director of Operations weekly regarding the status of equipment and vehicles in the shop.
  • Promote and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a dedication to safety by holding safety meetings, performing monthly safety training, enforcing safe work practices, and seeing that proper personal protection equipment is available and used by all shop personnel. Assist in the selection of new shop employees and responsible for supervising, mentoring, and evaluating staff. Counsel and discipline shop staff as necessary.
  • Initiate requisition for materials and equipment, authorize purchases from local vendors, and maintain adequate inventory of parts and supplies used in repairing and servicing fleet equipment.
  • Negotiate service agreements with third-party maintenance shops for outside repairs as needed.
  • Maintain current and accurate records of regular service and maintenance for fleet equipment.
  • Perform other related administrative tasks and duties associated with managing shop operations.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • 5 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment; or trade school graduate.
  • Must own tools applicable to position with experience in welding, hydraulic, electrical and diesel auto knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of schematics and diagrams
  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to work in a varied outdoor environment (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
  • Willing to work after hours and weekends if needed.
  • Familiarity with tools, equipment, and standard maintenance practices for the construction industry. Operate and have working knowledge of a wide array of complex equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel is preferred.
