THE OPPORTUNITY

The Flood and Insurance Specialist will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing aspects of our flood and/or insurance operations. This position requires extensive knowledge of flood and/or insurance policies, risk management, and regulatory compliance.  This position is responsible for reviewing, monitoring and ensuring the bank is adhering to flood and non-flood insurance requirements of the bank. Communicates with lenders, loan administration, legal, and compliance departments to promote positive working relationships across the organization. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.

 

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Ensure compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and all applicable federal and state flood insurance regulations (such as the Flood Disaster Protection Act and the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act).
  • Monitor and track insurance coverage for all applicable loans, ensuring proper coverage is maintained throughout the loan term.
  • Request, review, and validate insurance policies, declarations, and certificates for sufficiency and compliance with requirements.
  • Coordinate forced-placed insurance when borrowers fail to provide adequate coverage, notifying borrowers according to regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between the bank, insurance providers, loan servicing teams, and insurance tracking vendor.
  • Respond to inquiries from auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders related to flood insurance and risk management.
  • Order monitor and maintain accurate records of flood determinations, insurance policies, notices to borrowers, and all related correspondence.
  • Help support and execute the strategic plans for the flood and/or insurance division, aligning with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  • Support and enhance the comprehensive flood and/or insurance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential insurance and/or flood hazards and help develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all flood insurance operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Perform daily workflows within Flood and/or Insurance Team
  • Perform team daily functions as needed to support the team
  • Support audit processes by ensuring all required documentation is current, organized, and readily accessible.
  • Ensure adherence to updates and procedural changes. 
  • Work directly with the banks’ lending units to resolve any flood and insurance related issues.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients (internally and externally), providing applicable guidance on flood and insurance matters.

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • In-depth understanding of flood and insurance policies, risk management, and regulatory requirements. for commercial and consumer loans.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of lending products and documentation, including residential, commercial and consumer loans (including working knowledge of appraisals)
  • Excellent decision-making, problem solving and ability to multi–task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organization, team building and communications skills
  • Required: Highschool Diploma or equivalent 
  • Required: 3 years of relevant banking experience
  • Preferred: Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook. Good working knowledge of IBS loan system

SALARY RANGE

The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
