Job Description
Schedule/Travel: Full-time, academic year (10 month) position. Typical schedule is Tuesday through Saturday 10:30 am to 7 pm (includes a ½ hour unpaid meal period). Additional hours may be required. Schedule may vary according to department and Kent School needs.
FLSA: Non-exempt
Classification: Staff
Position Summary:
Assist Baker with preparation as needed. Set up and maintain bake shop station during lunch and dinner service.
- Monitor station during service for quality and cleanliness as well as ensure station is well-stocked.
- Assist in afternoon prep with the Baker.
- Observe Bakeshop during lunch and dinner service – restock bakery items, maintain soft serve machine and be responsible for gluten-free items.

Inspect food for taste, quality and overall appearance.

Recommend changes to improve quality, flavor and cost efficiency.

Maintain a clean and safe environment based on federal, state and local sanitation requirements.

FIFO, labeling, ownership of your station’s refrigerator and storage areas.

Communicate with co-workers in a constructive and positive manner.

Contribute to team effort by supporting other stations as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A combination of education and work experience in related fields, preferably in a busy cafeteria style environment. Servsafe certification is required (will be provided if needed).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills working with various audiences (faculty, staff and students).
- Skilled in prioritizing, multitasking and time management.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a calm demeanor.
- Willingness to support team members as needed.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands listed below are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:
- Requires to be on their feet for extended periods and climb stairs.
- Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. without assistance.

Successful completion of post-offer, pre-employment criminal background checks and drug test.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Work is performed on a smoke-free campus.
