Position Description Summary/Purpose:

The Certified Nursing Aide (CNA)/ Patient Care Technician (PCT) Instructor is responsible for planning, teaching, evaluating, and overseeing classroom, lab, and clinical instruction in the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and Patient Care Technician (PCT) programs. The instructor ensures that students gain the knowledge and hands-on skills necessary to succeed in healthcare settings, while maintaining compliance with state and federal training regulations. This position supports student success and program excellence through quality instruction, adherence to curriculum standards, and professional mentorship.

  • We are seeking an evening instructor available Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with additional office hours/ prep time prior to class to complete a 35-hour workweek*

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and delivers CNA/PCT curriculum in alignment with Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) standards.
  • Provides classroom, skills lab, and clinical instruction and supervision.
  • Evaluates student performance and provides feedback and remediation as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records of student attendance, progress, and competency checklists.
  • Assists with program planning, revision, and accreditation efforts.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and clinical partners.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety procedures in all instructional settings.
  • Models' professional behavior, punctuality, and ethical conduct.
  • Monitors students during clinical experiences to ensure safety and adherence to facility policies.
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and ensures all work safety practices are followed.

Other Functions:

  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Knowledge, Ability and Skill:

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and clinical environment.
  • Strong understanding of nursing assistant and patient care technician practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional strategies.
  • Ability to use learning management systems (LMS) and simulation tools effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in healthcare and education.
