The School of Education (SOE) at University of the Cumberlands seeks a dedicated full-time, on-campus faculty member to serve in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program. This individual will play a vital role in preparing the next generation of P-12 educators by teaching graduate-level coursework, overseeing student teaching experiences, and fostering strong partnerships with Kentucky schools. The ideal candidate will bring both academic expertise and practical classroom experience, aligning with the University's mission of providing a student-centered, faith-informed education that equips servant-leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Teach and supervise two sections of MAT Student Teaching each semester, along with one additional MAT course.
  • Field Placement: Oversee MAT student teacher placements in partner schools, cultivating relationships with P-12 educators and administrators.
  • Student Support: Advise and mentor graduate students, providing academic guidance and professional support.
  • Program Engagement: Collaborate with faculty colleagues in curriculum development, assessment, and program improvement to ensure excellence in teacher preparation.
  • University Service: Participate in School of Education meetings, committees, and initiatives that support the mission of the University.
  • Professional Growth: Remain current in educational research, trends, and policy, and share knowledge with students and colleagues.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Dean/Director of the MAT Program.

Required Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (doctorate) in education or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated P-12 teaching and/or administrative experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and educational data systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Kentucky MAT regulations and state teacher certification requirements.
  • Current or prior P-12 certification in an education-related area.
  • Experience teaching asynchronous or hybrid graduate-level courses.
  • Evidence of scholarship, professional service, or leadership in education.
